Social Media to Māori Product Development

Kiriana's Success Story

What I love about my job is that I can exercise my creativity using the power of social media to help contribute to the positive promotion of my culture.

Interview with Kiriana

My passions for kapa haka, Māori culture and travelling led me to study a bachelor’s degree in International Tourism Management at AUT. I believe that tourism provides my people with economic independence while improving cultural sustainability.

What I love about my job is that I can exercise my creativity and use the power of social media to help contribute to the positive promotion of my culture.

One of my best experiences was supporting the delivery of haka workshops. It was empowering to observe different people of different ethnicities engage with Māoriculture. Contributing towards something bigger than me, that’s what's most rewarding.

What is your advice to someone considering tourism?
