How To Get Children Interested In Tourism
How do we teach young children about roles in the Tourism industry to get them interested and engaged from an early age?
How about a colouring book for primary school children that highlights how visitors to our towns and countries provide jobs in tourism?
A colouring book has been designed to enable primary school aged children to learn about career options in the Tourism industry by having a teacher/parent prompt learning when they go on holiday or have visitors come to stay. The images of workers in the industry are easy to colour and as as great conversation starters. This delightful resource can used as a teaching tool for teachers and parents to show children how important tourism and manuhiri are to New Zealand.
The resource is available free, in digital form and can be downloaded as a book or individual pages for teachers to match with lessons. A suggested teaching plan is also provided and it is easy to assess the children’s knowledge from beginning to end.
The last few pages of the book depict a range of jobs for children to identify who they know that works in tourism. Teachers can organise visits and local or regional quizzes to extend lessons and knowledge of learners.
